Joyanne Herbert is the ex-wife of American actor and comedian George Lindsay. George is widely known for playing Goober Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show. Joyanne and George Lindsey met in 1955, and according to George, it was love at first sight; they started talking and soon fell in love.

He attended Walker County High School before joining a military school. In college, George Lindsey played on the football team as a quarterback and participated in college plays. George Lindsey learned acting at the American Theatre Wing, after which he started performing in theatre plays which included All American and Wonderful Town. In the early 1960s, Joyanne’s ex-husband appeared in the ” To Tell the Truth ” quiz show. In 1964, George landed the role of Goober Pyle on the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show and appeared on the show for four years.
Joyanne’s ex-husband also played Deputy Pierce in an episode of The Twilight Zone. Besides, he portrayed Walter Brennan in The Tycoon. His other early credits include Ensign Pulver, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and Gunsmoke. When Andy Griffith left in 1968, George Lindsey continued playing Goober Pyle in Mayberry R.F.D until 1971.
In the 1980s, Joyanne’s ex-husband had few acting roles as he appeared in a few shows, including Return to Mayberry, Cannonball Run II, and The American Snitch. Besides his successful acting career, George greatly impacted his community. He started the George Lindsey Film Festival in 1998, and the function is held annually at the University of Alabama.
